Ron Watkins, a frequent promoter of false election conspiracies who is closely linked to the QAnon movement, has announced that he will run for Congress in Arizona as a Republican.
Watkins has a sizable and devoted following among Trump fans who believe the former president’s baseless assertions that he lost the election due to voter fraud. His candidacy has the potential to destabilise the election in one of the GOP’s most important congressional districts.
Watkins filed papers with the Arizona secretary of state this week and later posted a video on Telegram repeating his claim that the election was stolen from Trump.
